I am allergic to Epoxy Resin!

Post by captain_john »

OK, I know that we all hate doing plastic parts. Hence is the reason we built or are building metal planes!

I have become sensitized to epoxies and the like ever sice I was a kid working in a glue factory (doing electrical work).

Whenever I am exposed, I get a rash and it is just miserable. Never the less, my work is fine!

Above is my right wingtip including marker beacon.

I wear a high quality mask, gloves and work with the garage door WIDE OPEN and limit the time I am exposed to the stuff but I still get sick.

This stuff is terrible! Billy, you and Mitch need to come by and help me with this poison!!! I will supply the rum!

Hey CJ-

Is that a custom hinge/nutplate attachment you have for the wingtip? Why not just do all hinge???

Yah Mikey... It is my own design.

Reason being, my hangars have limited space and i am looking forward to easy service-ability.

This will allow me to hang the wingtips from the hinges to service antennas, lights and strobes without completely removing them.

Probably unnecessary, but that is just my way!

Oh! But to answer your question Mike...

I could have gone all hinge but I didn't have that much hinge and I DID have the platenuts. I know I could have ordered the hinge but I am cheap.

I love this site! Every challenge requires drinking more beer :good job:

In all seriousness I know a few guys whose sensitivity to resin worsened with continued exposure so as my grandpappy used to say," son you got to wear protection"
Different situation but you get the point.
