Let me know what tools you need Chad. I inherited a bunch from a friend who recently passed away. I think most of them are from Avery's basic RV kit. He'd be glad to contribute them, I'm sure, as would I.

So out of curiosity Chad, why did you decide on another RV?
There is lots of good stuff out there and I know some of it you have eyed up in the past. It would be neat to hear about your decision making process for round 2.

That's a really good question Spike...one that has a couple of factors that I can't go in to yet (personal life stuff), but as many of you know, this isn't really round two...it's more like round 7 or 8.
Round 2 was a Thatcher CX4, sold just before completion
Round 3 was a Tailwind, built wood ribs and then metal ribs, had a nearly completed fuselage, sold it.
Round 4 was a Cougar restoration, sold before complete.
Round 5 was the EAA Zenith 750, now flying in the EAA flying club.
Round 6 was a Cubby, built ribs, sold it.
Round 7 was a Mustang II project, but I don't really count this one as I didn't do much to it before selling it.
So...round 7 or 8? I've been looking for a project for a long time, and I had so many starts on plans built airplanes before making a decision that it was just too much without an airplane of my own to fly. Another pre-punched RV didn't interest me as I've been there and got the t-shirt. So...I think I've found some middle ground here. I've had RV-4 preview plans for a long time, and when a tail kit became available at a very reasonable price, and where I'm at in life (that personal crap again), I decided that I would give it a go to start building a non-prepunched kit that will require some plans built skills, but with some hand holding from Van's via instructions...and I'm uber familiar with metal.
I also love tandem taildraggers...
So without going too much further in to my situation for now, that's where I'm at.

You're starting your -4 the same way I did. I bought a completed tail and wings in progress. Went from there. I still think the -4 is the best flying of all the RVs. At least of the ones I've flown. Enjoy the journey.
