Are your two ignition systems truly fully independent or can a single point failure cause both to fail? hey, you only have one engine and at takeoff you really need it to work. If your configuration has a single failure point that will cause both ignition systems to fail, get rid of it.
Potential failure points:
1) Battery
2) Circuit board
3) Control box (keep the magic smoke in the box)
4) Power connector
5) Crimped wire
6) Chafed wire
7) Poor grounding connection
9) Switch
10) Fuse
11) Terminal connector
I can say what I believe here because I am not constrained by advertising banners or sponsors to support.
reference this accident for poor electrical design. a single connector, wire, control box, etc., failure should never be able to cause an engine failure. https://www.rivetbangers.com/forums/vie ... =47&t=6298

Re: Ignition systems - truly independent?
That's why I run a slick mag + PMag. If the p-lead wire fails to the slick mag, it keeps on making sparks. The potential of better fuel burn or a smoother engine isn't worth the risk of converting both to electronic ignition. I believe its well proven the most benefit comes from the first electronic ignition.

yep, good. no ignition single point failure location.bullojm1 wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 1:49 pmThat's why I run a slick mag + PMag. I have had two car Auto Zone batteries fail overnight just after the 3 yr warranty period. Auto Zone confirmed they were dead. Good the day before with high crank amps but completely dead the next morning. I think they have them programmed to die. don't rely on batteries....
