top cowl - paint peeling on the underside

Post by A2022 »

I just put some tape on the peeling locations. after 11 years, it's not too bad.

I've thought many times about covering the inside of my cowl with AL tape. 12" wide tape from Amazon for < $50 is what I am thinking:

I've thought about that as well. I am wondering if the tape will fall off and then leave some residue. the tape I used is cheap alum tape. time will tell.

also, I don't think this is the best way to cool the battery after a flight. after doing this for several times, I noticed the cowl pins were difficult to remove. I think the fan drives a lot more heat into the top cowl area over the cylinders. it is probably better to force the cooling air in from the front cowl inlets. I will go back to just opening the oil fill door for cooling.

here's a tip: wear this hat if you want to experience unexpected love and affection from women you don't even know. working the angles. :)
