RV3 - ASN Report - N696DB

It seems he was flying at a steady altitude when a wing broke off. Definitely not good. RIP

An experimental Van's RV-3A, kit built by Blessing, N696DB, experienced an in-flight breakup about 10 km north of Lakeland, Florida. The pilot perished and the aircraft was destroyed.

The pilot was flying in formation with Van's RV-8 N881PH and the pilot of that aircraft reported "seeing a wing came off the low-wing aircraft just in time to watch the plane come apart and crash straight into the ground".
