Trap door in fuel tank (pic)

Post by captain_john »

I was BUSTIN' MY HUMP. trying to figure out a way to get the other side of the hinge pin bent when I thought about it for a second.

It DOESN'T need to be bent! It fits up against the baffle and will NEVER wiggle out!

DUH!!!

It moves freely and now I need to fiddle with other parts.

BTW, installing a spacer under the fixed side of the hinge makes for a nice, flush alignment of the door against the rib!

This is fun!

Came out pretty good, I think!

Tell me, the plans show the rivets being evenly spaced. I also know the last rivet lacks some edge distance.

I opted for this layout so they would all land on the flats of the rib.

Whatcha think?

I have no clue what you're talking about (since I'm not a builder), but will give you a hearty "Woo Hoo" anyway.

Hahahaha!

You know what? As I was uploading these pictures, I was thinking back to the days when I was dreaming of building. I pinged the Checkoway website and many others. I looked at lots of shiny aluminum and with various bends, reflections and lighting situations... I was CLUELESS as to what it was I was viewing!

Soooo, I can relate!

Thanks for your vote of confidence! I needed to do SOMETHING RV today!

OSH, here I come! I will be wearing my Piper hat tomorrow!

CJ, looks fine to me. I don't think edge distance is a major factor in this instance. I tink you make de right decizhun.

Enjoy your trip over to OSH! See ya Thursday!

I talked to spike yesterday from his stop in Lansing. They were waiting out the weather. Sounds like I'm gonna have decsent weather to get in there Thursday.
