Ok,

The following picture is placed here soley for the purpose of testing my knowledge of posting photos. I know that I will need to do this when I make mistakes and will need to post photos of those mistakes in order to solicit help and advice from my esteemed collegues. I have never done this before and this is my first attempt. This is simply a test. I hope it works.

It is not a shameless attempt to show the Rivetbanger world that I am thrilled beyond belief that I am starting down a path of the fulfillment of a long held dream. That would be a self gratifying act beneath the dignity of this revered group.

did you resize the pic before you uploaded? if you did, don't. the gallery resizes them for you. unless they are huge files, don't worry about it. if they are large files, you may want to resize them a little because it will take f-o-r-e-v-e-r to resize and upload. my pics are usually about 10 megs out of the camera, and i usually resized them to about 500kb-1mb before uploading.

the pic you uploaded must have already been pretty small. you probably got a 'no resizing needed' note for that one. you can't make 'em bigger on the site, so they have to be larger to begin with.

did that make any sense whatsoever? :? :o

I did get a "resize" indication...The "properties on the image on the computer showw the size as 334 KB. I could not tell you if that is "big" or "small." Most of my photo work was with 35mm Nikons...I am a little outta my element with the digital age, at least when it comes to posting them and resizing and such.

that's on the small side. if they are closer to 1mb when uploading, they will get resized to a nice size for viewing.

this thread is WAY off topic. we should move this to 'the hanger' or something. it happens...

I believe that this is what you wanted:

Image

You accidentally linked to the thumbnailed image. If in the gallery, when you are looking at an index page of many little pics, if you click on one it will take you to another page where the full sized image is. You can then grab the URL of that image.

Thanks Spike…I think I understand. I am sure I will have lots of practice. And thanks for splitting the thread. I am not familiar with the etiquette as it relates to these forums but I will endeavor to stay focused. Sorry for the clutter. Eric.
