As some of you have seen we have been getting hit with a bunch of spam bots lately. Unfortunately, I have no choice but to turn off the ability for anonymous users to post. I have enjoyed giving builders the ability to post without registering, but unfortunately for the safety and integrity of the site I have to remove that option.

If you have previously enjoyed posting that way please accept my apologies. If you still wish to access the site and make posts, I would suggest creating a free email account with a service such as Yahoo! and use that to protect your anonyminity.

Yeah we are. The sad thing is that I dont think its a bot as I have graphic authentication turned on. This one was a live person I think.

Good call.

We appreciate the work you do Spike in keeping this site clean. Some other sites I have been on get down right nasty. :(

I think that those who come here for help and or to contribute constructively, will not mind registering. Thanks for putting out the fire...pun intended!

So can they use a person to generate a username then have some program make useless random posts?

I agree - thanks Spike for the hard work. Too bad there isn't something like a do not call list for spammers...

Ah man, just when I finally found a way to win tons of money to finish building my -8. Just kidding, I hate that garbage. Did you also weed out the ones who created fake log in accounts?

Thanks John. I hate spammers and spend an inordinate amount of time at work trying to battle it for those people who don't want to just delete it.

Me: Just delete it.

Mindless user: Well, I can but that's too much trouble. Can't you just keep it from appearing in my outlook?

Me: Well I can try to keep most of it out but some will still come through. Just delete that.

Mindless user: I shouldn't have to, I mean, what are we paying you for?

So I definately appreciate you doing your best to keep the salesmen out. :good job:
