Congratulations to me

Post by johnk »

I finally managed to get all the parts for the HS and VS primed. It was a real adventure, and I must say I'm not looking forward to doing it again. So far I've REALLY enjoyed everything about this project, ... EXCEPT for this priming business; now I understand the attraction of the minimalist approach to priming that some take.

Next, RIVETING!! Wish me luck.

John,

You best get to at least tolerate priming, as the procedure will become a very typical one!

:P

How far are you guys from one another? It is good to have a building partner that is local!

We are gonna need some PICS!

Hey John glad to see that's out of the way!!!

Which primer did you use and what did you hate so much about the process? I will be priming soon and want to hear what I have to look forward to!

I bet he is going to say he hates all the prep work like alodining. For me, alumiprep and alodining is ok as long as it is small parts I can place in a tub. When it comes to longer parts like flap and aileron parts it is a major PITA.

The priming can be a PITA. It is just something that bogs down the building process, but I consider it a necessary evil.

If you are using any brand of self etching primer, you are doing fine.

Since this thread has turned down the path of prep and priming and has some really great info in it I split that content off into its own thread over in the Primer & Paint forum.
