Here's a picture titled "Short Final" for Shelter Cove. My friend Kurt gave me this photo (as my RV is obviously not at this altitude yet

)

He never heard of a Vans RV aircraft before. I'll see if I can get him on the board, I am sure you can slip him in the right direction, and who knows, maybe he will become a rivetbanger.

Wow, that is awesome. I'm guessing from the runway being 12 and the ocean is on the right of the picture that it is somewhere in CA.

I'm going to take some video of the approach into Shelter Cove the next time I fly there. Even this picture doesn't do justice to this beautiful approach. The day I was there the surf was crashing on those rocks you see and splashing white foam about 30 feet up. I was so mesmorized by the waves that I almost forgot I was on final. This is an abosolutely gorgeous place to go. There is also an inn just to the left of this photo right on the water. Great place to watch the ocean and airplanes. Right across the street from the inn is a small restaurant. Aerial can probably tell you about 50 other things to do around this airport.

This will be a weekend destination for my wife and I one day. I'm going to go visit again when the weather gets better. Can't wait to discuss aviation and theology with Aerial.

Thanks for the links Jim. I'm not sure what the complete story is but I was hoping to get Kurt interested in RV's. He's a new associate realtor up here with Lost Coast Properties http://www.sheltercoverealestate.com/ (This is not a plug).

And we are definately on the west coast. In fact I think Cape Mendocino just north of here is the most westerly land point in the lower 48. Which means we are as west as you can get..... not sure where east starts?

Well, it's nit picky at best but..............Port Orford (Cape Blanco) Oregon is the furthest west point in the contiguous United States. At 124.29' W Cape Mendocino is 124.24’.3” W. The town proper of Port Orford is the furthest west of any city in the contiguous states.

Sorry to dissapoint you Jim, But Washington State's Cape Falttery is at
W 124.44' and the town of Neah Bay is W 124.38' Anything further west is water.

Hello All,

I was overseas a few weeks in Feb. and since I have been back the weather has not let up for much flying. The rain finally broke for a while yesterday and I had a free evening, so I am once again night current. I had forgotten how pretty the lights of Sacramento and the surrounding area’s are.

Anyway, Scott if you plan a flight back up to Shelter Cove, please keep me in mind. It looks like it’s about an hour flight for me and I would love to hook up with you over there. It looks like a beautiful setting to have a $100 burger and share some ice tea with a fellow RV’er. We can also meet up at Pine Mountain Lake sometime too.

The Angles are in town this weekend, so my weekend is pretty much planned for me. Other than baseball practice Saturday afternoon and a quick breakfast flight on Sunday morning before the airshow.

Keep me in mind,

You bet! There are a couple of RV's at Oakdale (including one for sale) that are itching to take a ride. I think we have a flyout planned for Auburn on an upcoming Saturday morning. I'll find out when and let you know.

I was in Guam for about half a month. Everything went well other than I flew through Narita (Tokyo) and hit the largest snowstorm they have had in over ten years. In all my years of travel I had never had to sleep in an airport, while fly in the big boys planes, until that trip. What a mess.

Anyway, I'm back and hoping for sunny days so I can get the 6 out and about again.

Keep me posted on any trips you guys make. Auburn is all of 10 to 15 min. for me, but what the heck. It's only a $50 burger that way!!
