it's a good 15'. they send a few fuselage parts with the wing spars such as the angle used for longerons in the fuse. they do this so the box for the fuse doesn't have to be quite so big.

I think the crating page on Van's web site says 186 inches for the longer 9A wing crate (15.5 feet). (slow build)

The spar crate is about 15 ft. long and also contains the top longerons for the fuselage. Sorry Spike!

Yah Spike, it is a doozie! Long is an understatement.

Here is my little one.

Larry, that is a good chunk of change for a trip about 1/3 the distance as mine. I am sure it is due to the limited trucking runs up to your area as compared to onese that go east - west. I recall mine to be just over three beans about a year ago.

...but then again, that was before the gas hike!

Spike,

I unloaded them myself, not as heavy as they are awkward. Shipping anything to Alaska is expensive. I was actually surpised it wasn't more.....Larry

That's good news John, let me know if you need help with the crates.

Does that speedy shipment mean they held your wing parts all this time, and just had to wait for new spars?

Wings have arrived ...

Post by Spike »

First off a big thanks for JohnK who came out to help unload the wings from the truck and get them up my steep driveway and to the back of the house

As for the kit, dang there are alot of parts!! As I was pulling the lids off of the crates the only thing that kept going through my mind was "What have I gotten myself into?" This should be fun, well, all except deburring the ribs and taking the inventory :)
