I should protect my ears and eyes more than I do. When I ride off road, I have a full face helmet, but could still use earplugs. Some of the newer 4 strokes can really pack a noise whollop!
Working around all sorts of machinery at the farm doesn't help either. Between the tractors and the various two stroke implements of destruction, I'm sure I did plenty of damage.
Then there were my years working with bands and getting assaulted by the insanely high volume levels that came with that job. After a couple of years I smartened up and started wearing ear plugs while on the job. Unfortunately, the damage was probably already done by that point.
closing in on 40 years of what could easily be called abuse, and now I'm starting to reap the rewards of not being careful. I have trouble picking out conversations if there is background noise. I'm very sensative to loud music. Well, Bad loud music anyway
Being a creature of habit, I still don't wear any ear protection when mowing or working on the farm. Thankfully, my father has been buying tractors with cabs so the noise is cut down considerably.
Take care of your ears people.
For my plane project, I've invested in some foam plugs. I'll probably press my range ear muffs in service at some point too. I'd rather keep what I have left.
