Experimental mid air

Post by Ron »

Hi all, has anyone heard anything about the 2 experimental mid air? All I know is they were landing in formation and one bumped another. One guy landed ok, but the other crashed. I think that they were getting ready for an airshow when this happened. Any more Info?

This happened just down the road from me. Chris Good was the pilot's name. He was from Wisconsin, 55 years old. He was part of the Blackhawk Squadron. They were formed to learn and promote safe formation flying practices.

They were heading to the Illinois Valley Air Show to be a part of the static display, and were not part of the flying display. It happened a couple of hours before the show was to begin.

I was not there, and I did not know Chris, but we tragically lost a great pilot and great person.

Very sad situation

My sympathy goes out to Chris' family and friends. I had seen part of the Blackhawk Squadron the day before at Boone. This photo was shot as the lead was taking off with Chris flying in number two.
