My harnesses from Hooker arrived last week.....sweet 5 points!!!

I know it's early in the process but, I couldn't resist 30% off.

Well, racers on the ground and in the sky have trusted their lives to harness companies for decades.

Companies like Simpson, Crowe, Hooker and others have been in competition for market share and some have gained notoriety in certain segments. In aerobatic competition and in aviation circles, Hooker seems to have the lion's share of the business and has become the recognized "leader" in the industry.

Making your own is akin to sewing up your own parachute. Alot of expertise goes into a harness to make it safe, durable, comfortable and easy to use.

Why re-invent the wheel (or wing in this case)?

These harnesses have nice pads that are really comfortable on long trips and the rotary buckle, although PRICEY... is hard to beat!

Every time I strap into the Citabria (which has Hooker Mil Spec buckles) it makes me wish the RV was done just so I can use the rotary buckle!

That buckle, in and of itself is reason for getting in on this buy! It is SUPER easy to use and FAST!

The Mil Spec one is clumsy and ungainly. Albeit, it DOES THE JOB!

Besides, with a name like Hooker... you KNOW it can be trusted!

Yeah, we have rotary's in the King Air...they are cool!

But still, why are Van's "not good enough"?

A friend of mine has them in his -7, and has had no issue with them.

Sounds like the interest is definitely there for this work out CJ, and I have no intent of derailing it, trust me. I'm just wondering why they are better.

Chad, they are a specialty item.

Just LOOK at the differences:

* The buckles are different (even of you go with the Mil Spec ones), Van has airline buckles.
*The webbing is thicker AND PADDED, so God help you if you REALLY have to use them!
*The attach brackets are stronger and bushed.
*It is a SAFETY ITEM! How can you skimp on SAFETY!?!

These are the few things that come to mind immediately.

Can anyone think of other reasons?

The only thing NOT in their favor is cost.

...not that it is a HUGE upcharge anyways. It is twice the price, but for something that will possibly save your life, but WILL use it EVERYDAY... it is worth it (at least to me)!

Besides, this IS your dream airplane!

C.J. you are a great online salesman... Hooker should give you a bonus discount for all your hard work.

If anyone is planning on even mild aerobatics, then you don't want to bother with the airline type setup that van's sells. While adequate for normal flight, I don't think they are up to snuff for aerobatics or being upside down in a crash.

The force to release yourself if you are hanging upside-down is much greater on the Van's style than what it would take to release the rotary style.
The extra padding and quality is evident with the hookers. I'd say the simpson's and crow's are also good one's to consider too.
