Wings Spar stuff pics (as promised!)

Post by captain_john »

The horizontal was hung from the ceiling with care:

With hopes that the wings soon would be there!

Actually, they are here... I just need to put them together!

There are lots of methods people conjure up for doing these platenuts precisely.

Image

Image

I drilled ONE of the platenut holes first, cleco'ed a nutplate on as a guide for the second hole and then countersunk, deburred and riveted them into place.

Wyatt kept a close watch during the entire process!

The tank platenuts are all installed now. Next is countersinking the #8 screwholes with the #30 countersink bit. As you can see, the #30 countersink will "automatically" center itself into the well of the #8 platenut, once it is riveted into place.

Lemme tell ya, there is a lotta work here!

It came out pretty good, I would say!

You talking to me? :o I ain't got no Quickbuild. I am on the world's slowest build RV-6A. Except for the second rudder and vertical stab I built from RV-7 (smaller one) parts I ain't got a single pre-punch part. :|
