There are lots of methods people conjure up for doing these platenuts precisely.


I drilled ONE of the platenut holes first, cleco'ed a nutplate on as a guide for the second hole and then countersunk, deburred and riveted them into place.
Wyatt kept a close watch during the entire process!

The tank platenuts are all installed now. Next is countersinking the #8 screwholes with the #30 countersink bit. As you can see, the #30 countersink will "automatically" center itself into the well of the #8 platenut, once it is riveted into place.

Lemme tell ya, there is a lotta work here!

It came out pretty good, I would say!
