Chad,
After this evening, I have 25 hrs on N16BL which, as you may know, has a three-blade Catto prop.
Man, you won't believe how smooth it is. Tonight I was crusing at 8000' running 68% power (2280 rpm) and burning 6.8 gal/hr. Indicated speed was 130 kts (150 mph) just burning off the 40 hrs.
Did I mention just how smooth the prop is? There is NO vibration!
It just doesn't get better than this.

Wow - the three blade really looks great Chad! Prop hanging day is definitely up there with big days for the project. Although, prop taking-off day was right up there for me. I was so paranoid the whole time I was working on the project with the prop on that I would whack it!

On the subject of props, there was a piece in AOPA Pilot about the Ellipse prop and how his 3-blade unit (hehe) supposedly has less drag than a comparable 2-blade.
I have never seen or at least noticed an Ellipse on an RV. Has anyone else?
I am interested in hearing a review.

Paul Lipps used an RV-6 for his prop development...don't know if it's still out there, but it was a test bed!

Hmmmm, Interesting. But yet it seems that he didn't extensively market to we RV builders? I find that odd. Perhaps it didn't prove to be an effective combination? dunno...
Chad, I see you have a Crackberry now! Does this mean your post count will pass mine soon? Can we expect to see even more posts from you soon?

Love it for e-mail, texting, contacts and event planning.
I even use it to wake me up in the morning if I have to get up early

See you at OSH.

Hey CJ,
Regarding the Ellipse prop, there's a whole thread on the subject under the "Propellers" section of rivetbangers, including a link to a great article from EAA about it. That article alone sold me on the idea of really looking into it. I'm still intensely interested in an Ellipse prop. I wrote to Paul Lipps and got a response from his guy who is developing the Ellipse prop for the RV market. It will be very interesting to watch the development. I hope one is available by the time I'm ready for one.
