Just dreaming obviously. Alternatively if Glasair would stretch the Sportsman to be a true four place I'd change the name of the board from rivetbangers.com to glasssanders.com

I was under the impression that it wasn't that Van's backed away from the offering, but more of the fact that nobody wanted to order one. With people installing high compression, ram air, cold air induction, etc, etc to get more HP, nobody wanted the simple entry level engine option. Of course, the result is the same. No sales interest means that Vans lost interest too.
I know that I'm guilty. When I started the build, I had all kinds of options I wanted on my engine. When it came closer to ordering and be unemployed for awhile, reality kicked into the situation.
With all that said, it still can be done. You just have a little more fiberglass work to do to customize your cowl.
On the other side of the coin:
Once you get by the purchase price, an IO-540 can be run pretty economical if you don't mind the longer travel times. I have a decision to make for every flight. Get there fast or get there less expensively.
